Notes From The Nursery

Technical #*%#&% difficulties! I can't get my photos uploaded. Look for the photos on another post. Grr.
To avoid the pitfalls of my CRS disorder (Can’t Remember Sh*t), the following words are scribbled on a piece of scrap paper in Solomon’s room: hobo, tv, Princess L, naps, and Phillip Glass.
One of my goals this week has been to spend less time in front of the tele. Shoot, I was racking up two hours a day in Nash Bridges reruns alone. That glowing box sucks me in. If unchecked, I’d spend the day with it glowing in the background while I played with Solomon. In order to avoid the temptation, Solomon and I are hanging out more in his room. After a hobo bath to clean up his stinky bits, The Boy and I spent 45 minutes playing on the nursery floor for diapy-free time. We listened to a great Philip Glass CD called Uakti. V. mellow. As Solomon settled down, I read to him from Parents magazine. He is now familiar with the latest trends in back-yard play tents, potty training in one day (I don’t buy it), and the dangers of drowning and sun exposure. As for me, I was inspired to try a new hairdo. In order to look as though I’ve just come in from a day at the beach, I twist my wet hair into several mini Princess Leia buns (I made five). Supposedly with a little product plus time, when I unwind them I look like I just walked in from the sandy shore. Verdict: not even worth it. I can’t tell the difference from the days I don’t have time to get the towel turban off of my head. Maybe I should write the editors and suggest my way as a time saving tip.
But I digress. I finally convinced Solomon to take a morning nap, in his crib (as opposed to my arms) no less, which is another goal. Sensing a brief window of opportunity, I jumped in the shower. Of course, I found Solomon awake 10 minutes later. He at least had the courtesy to let me get dressed before starting to wail. Baby steps. Maybe he’ll make it 15 minutes next time.
